So for once, Halie, Fabian, Will, Georgie, Danny AND I all had the night off. Probably the one and only time it has, and will ever happen, so we decided to make the most of it - by stuffing our faces with food. After much deliberation, we decided to pop down the road to a tiny little place called the Block. I say tiny, because it literally houses 5 tables. 25 people and it is full, but I think that's part of it's charm.
An extensive tapas Mediterranean/Asian inspired menu is on offer, along with several daily specials and a pretty delicious looking cocktail and beer menu. As there was six of us, we decided to just get a ridiculous amount of dishes and share between us. Oh dear God was it good. I was pretty apprehensive at first to be honest as I'm not good with spicy food and that was a hefty component to many of the dishes, but it was actually awesome.
We ordered the flatbread, chicken skewers, grilled scallops, duck spring rolls, edamame, asian lettuce wraps (one with pork belly, one with beef), tandoori prawns, duck poutine, salmon salad and oysters - all finished off nicely with chocolate tostadas and tiramisu creme brulee. Not only did we stuff ourselves full of all of that delicious food, we also slurped down a fair few beers/cocktails. I personally LOVED my vodka and pomegranate based cocktail, though Will had a lush bourbon and orange based drink and Halie had a really nice apricot beer. We certainly left fulfilled, and a little bit merry.
Obviously because we are all greedy buggers, that huge amount of food clearly wasn't enough. So we headed back up the road to our house to have 'cheese and wine', which ended up being cheese and some delicious melon drop tea from David's tea. We know how to party hard at the Grizztrap! We sat about and chatted and stuffed our faces some more and watched some snowboarding films and all filtered off our separate ways. It really was a lovely evening, and so nice to all be able to spend some time together for once. Fingers crossed it is not another six month until the opportunity arises.
