Week Three.

So this week has been so much more exciting and fun filled than last week. I have started my new job which I am loving, I've made my bedroom all lovely and homely, and I have had my first snowboard lesson - super exciting!

First things first, work. I'm currently hostessing at a place called Saltlik which is one of the nicest steakhouses in town with the aim to eventually become a server. Hopefully sooner rather than later. The hierarchy of becoming a server works like so. You start off as a hostess which basically just involves greeting people at the door and showing them to their table; then you become a servers assistant, and then a server. There's food tests, liquor training and role play training just to name a few. I've honestly never had to train so much to be a waitress, it's a whole different world to back home. Not only is there loads of training, but the till/cash system is so so weird. So basically you don't have a till, you are your own till. You take $100 of your own money as a float, take customers payments, give them cash out of your float and then you pay the restaurant out of the money you took for the food you served. Anything left is your tips. Weird aye.

But away from work and back at home, I have totally set in now. Sandra and I spent our Saturday morning doing DIY and constructing a storage cabinet, I've stuck all my favourite photographs of my family and friends across the wall, and organised all my clothes and paperwork. My Mum wouldn't recognise me right now! I feel like I've created a home away from home and I'm so glad that I can say that. I was so worried about coming to Canada without Danny and really struggling, so I am extremely appreciative that I walked into a life with such brilliant people to be around, it has made the whole transition so much better.

I've given the snowboard lesson it's own entire post otherwise this would have turned into a huge essay and no one has time for that. I'm hoping that Danny has not figured out I've started a blog yet as it will be a nice surprise if he turns up and has no idea that I've been learning to snowboard. I cannot bloody wait for him to arrive, this time next week and he shall be here, i'm so glad time has gone by so quickly! So one week and everything will be complete and our new life will really begin! Until then enjoy the pictures...
