Snowboarding Lesson One.

My friend suggested to me last week that I should go with him for a couple of snowboarding lessons and I know how much Danny would like me to snowboard, and even I think it would be better but it's just getting myself out of that comfort zone and into doing something new. I mean isn't it enough that I've moved to the other side of the world without throwing myself off the edge of a cliff on a new piece of equipment, I think so!

This all being said, I quickly changed my mind after watching some snowboard videos with the boys and talking through it. Plus snowboard boots are a million and one times more comfortable than ski boots so it would be worth it for that perk alone! So we set a date, my lovely friend Halie leant me her old boots and skis and that was that.

I cannot believe how much fun I had, i genuinely can't! I was surprised how relaxed I was about the whole situation after having near on panic attacks every ski lesson I had to attend. My teacher was pretty darn good and taught me in a really chilled out way so I didn't feel under pressure and could just enjoy it. I managed to figure out the stance that you needed to stay balanced pretty quickly, but same as skiing turning a certain direction didn't go quite to plan; the good turns were more unintentional that me actually doing it. I was taught a different way of doing it and seemed to be able to grasp the concept.

Other than completely stacking it whilst attempting to get off the chair lift I think the whole thing went pretty well. So much so that I keep niggling at my housemate to take me out for another lesson. My God my thighs hurt so bad though. An hours constant balance on a board really messes with your muscles, I'm walking like a complete idiot, but it was so so worth it. Bring on lesson two and getting those full turns on point!
