On Thursday we took a little trip to Canmore to look at some climbing gear for Danny. He is really eager to get into climbing both indoor and outdoor over the Summer, so of course we had to go check out all of the equipment on offer. Valhalla sports in Canmore has such a huge variety and a little climbing wall to test everything out so we had a great time wandering around in there. Danny then took me to the Rocky Mountain Bagel Co for lunch, where we shared a savoury and a sweet bagel and had a smocha (that's a s'more mocha) - my God was it good. Canmore is a pretty cool place. It is bigger than Banff, has less tourists than Banff, and there's actually some good stores there that don't just sell souvenir crap. All in all it makes a great mini trip out of town.
Sunday was our final night in the Grizzly House. The sun was shining, the music was blaring and the beer was flowing. We sat out on the patio all night, chatting, catching up and just having an awesome time. It's going to be so weird not living in that house anymore. Don't get me wrong, I am so excited to move to a smaller, less noisy household, but I will seriously miss the Grizz Trap. We've had such good times there and have been so lucky to be put together with such a great group of people, it's definitely going to be strange to be settling into a new place without them all. But it is time.
So on Monday, we woke up bright and early with slightly banging heads from the night before and started shifting all our stuff down the road into the new place. Once it was all in we headed off to Calgary to Ikea! I was way too excited to go house shopping. The new place had no furniture in the bedroom so this was an opportunity to make it ours, to make it homely and somewhere to enjoy spending time. We certainly got a lot of stuff, and I think if Danny never sees flat pack furniture again it will be soon. That being said it was all worth it. The house looks lovely and I think that we are really going to enjoy our time here. We also dropped into the Apple store and after a while of saving, I got myself an early birthday present in the form of a Macbook Air and a little iPod shuffle, and maybe an apple tv. Ok i got carried away, but it's my birthday soon so it's totally allowed!
As one of our days was taken up by moving house, we decided to try and make the most of our only other day off of the week by taking a drive up to Moraine Lake. The weather wasn't particularly ideal but it was nice to get out of town and go to somewhere that we haven't been before. The walk around the Lake took less than 30 minutes and we just hung around on the rocks taking in the view. It really is beautiful, and I can imagine how much more beautiful it is when the sun is shining and the water is sparkling blue - definitely somewhere we shall be going back to on a hot summers day with a picnic and some beers, of course.
Last night we went to see our friend Greg sing at Mel's bar which was great. He has such an awesome voice, plays the guitar pretty damn well and just puts on a really good performance. His set sheet in insane, and the requests were flowing all night. Unfortunately so were the tequila shot so today I am completely wasting my morning off by laying in bed watching Greys Anatomy and feeling sorry for myself. Let's see if these pictures cheer you up like they do me on a gloomy day such as today. Lots of love...
